The Series 65 CR Combined Heat Detector monitors temperature by using a dual thermistor network which provides a voltage output proportional to the air temperature. The detector has a polycarbonate case which holds the signal processing electronics. It operates by using a matched pair of themistors to sense heat. One thermistor is exposed to the ambient temperature, the other is sealed. In normal conditions the two thermistors register similar temperatures. In the event of a fire the temperature recorded by the exposed thermistor will increas rapidly resulting in an imbalance which will cause the detecor to enter the alarm state.
